Frolics & friendship at CLA’s Mad Hatters Tea Party

Happy memories were made under the rose arbour of the stunning Morning Star Estate in Mt Eliza. Beautiful food and service delighted our guests.

Mad Hatter Tea Party - Hat ParadeOutrageously decorated hats were the theme of the day which brought on tears of laughter. Our independent judges for the “Hats in the Field” competition had a difficult task of choosing the 3 best hats. Each prize winner received a potted plant in a large tea cup to remember the day.

We spoiled guests with raffle prizes, door prizes, fun and games.

Several of CLA supporters, Russell Joseph Liberal candidate for Nepean in the upcoming State Election (who brought the house down with his decorated blond curls!), Ray Holt property developer & Brien Jones coordinator of Saleability program for people with disability at Blairgowrie both confirmed their support to CLA (Two men in Blue) – thank you!

Guests were treated to a garden tour of the magnificent garden at Morning Star by Director Judy Barrett.

This concludes yet another successful CLA event bringing families, friends and supporters together and showing that we are here to support caring families to enjoy a lifestyle in their community.

CLA extends their sincere thanks to Morning Star Estate Director Judy Barrett (CLA’s patron), staff Christine, Mark, our generous donors who donated the raffle prizes which allowed CLA the chance to treat our guests.

More exciting events are being planned for caring families so watch this space!

Christmas a time of HOPE & JOY

Cloverleaf housing project has commenced – on Uniting Church Land in Rosebud

8 adults with a disability will have a place to call home, their ageing parents will have peace of mind.

There are hundreds of ageing carers on the Peninsula living in fear of dying, worried what will happen to their dependents. (“Must passionate carers be forced to consider taking their loved one with them as they face their own death”).

Give a gift of HOPE to struggling ageing parents/carers, let them know you care.

With community support more accommodation can be built now to house adults with disability.

Make a donation, volunteer your services, or leave a bequest. All donations are Tax Deductable.

INSUFFICIENT HOUSING OPTIONS for PEOPLE with an INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY

CLA is campaigning strongly for The Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) allocation under the NDIS be extended to include people with a severe/profound intellectual disability

Housing providers and developers are developing housing opportunities only for ‘SDA Eligible’ participants, is that a fair outcome for our older sons and daughters with an severe/profound intellectual disability still living at home with ageing parents?

WE ask that the Federal/ State governments and the NDIA implement actions immediately to address this grave injustice to older individuals with a severe/profound intellectual disability who like any Australian deserve a home of their own.

Please support CLA to address this grave injustice to individuals with an intellectual disability and their ageing parents.

Advise from the Clarke-Burrows before moving back to the UK

Alan & Terry fundraising for CLA

Alan (2nd left) & Terry (far right) fundraising for CLA

My husband Alan and I have lived in Australia for 15 years.

We have been very proud to be new Australians and spent many hours of our time volunteering to help improve services for disabled young people and their carers on the Peninsular.

Supporting the organisation of CLA has been a privilege because we are so aware of the need for services to support these young people in the community.

Volunteers help to improve the lives of disabled people in a variety of ways and can make such a positive difference.

  • Volunteering is a two-way street. In return for giving time and effort we get so many positive things back:
  • Opportunities to make new friends
  • Enjoy participating in many social fundraising events
  • Make a positive difference to our own local community

If you would like to join this special volunteering team please contact the secretary Marie on 0423 356 878  035983 8785  or marie.hell@bigpond.com.

We hope that this organisation grows into a wonderful gift for young disadvantaged people and provides the support care that they so much deserve.

Over $1,600 raised at Family Fun Day in Dromana

Thank you for all your help with raising awareness for this great organisation and to raise some much needed funds at the Family Fun Fete last week.

We raised just over $1,600 and although a quiet day in the area it was a good community day with special thanks to all volunteers, #UnitingChurchAU for donating the space, #RosebudToyLibrary for donating the super fun Ball Pitt and #RosebudBoomerangBags to show case and offer bags to our shoppers 🙂

Your support and dedication was so appreciated.

We both wish the CLA organisation a great future.

Kind Regards,
Alan and Terry
