We have a new Carer Information & Support Advocate

My name is Yvonne, I am CLA’s new carer information & support advocate, committed to assisting participants and their parents/carers with NDIS pre-planning, including accompanying the family to the NDIS planning meetings. I can assist with NDIS plan re-views, speak with the service sector and advocate for the family on issues impacting on their lives.

Cath is taking some time off to be with her daughter Zoe as she transitions from school into day program and study she will be missed greatly by families and CLA. Cath is assisting me settle into the position.

I am a mum to Sophie who has a disability she is 19 and happily involved in a day program on the peninsula, I also have a son Jesse who is 22 he is an apprentice plumber, my husband David has a garden maintenance business.  We have lived on the peninsula for the last 15 years with a short move to NSW but deciding to come home were disability services are more accessible.

I have a background in childcare for 20 years and in last 5 years aged care I’ve worked in home nursing care in NSW, and a local aged care facility on peninsula for the last 2 years. I have knowledge on the NDIS pre-planning process and understand the different stages in participants lives where they may need accurate information and support to achieve their goals in a NDIS world.

Please feel free to pass on my details to other Peninsula families, the more people that know about CLA’s independent free NDIS pre – planning services and how important it is to be well prepared to achieve the best outcome for our family members with a disability. The more families who you use our service will help convince the government to extend our Transition Support Program (TSP) funding.

I’m very excited about my new position and look forward to working with all our current families and our new ones that come on board.

Kind regards,

Yvonne Alaimo
